INITIATIVES

South OC for All is passionate about improving the lives of South OC residents with an emphasis on vulnerable members of our community. We work closely with residents to develop solutions that address their specific needs and priorities. Residents play a central role in directing local advocacy efforts and engaging collaborative non-profits to create change in the community.

CURRENT INITIATIVE:

Housing for Health

Finding a safe and affordable place to live is difficult for South Orange County’s historically underserved residents.

According to the Kennedy Commission, almost half of San Juan Capistrano residents are designated as predominantly low-income due to their low salaries, high cost of living, and lack of affordable housing. The City of San Juan Capistrano has the second-highest total percentage of overcrowded units compared to all other cities in Orange County.

South OC for All’s Housing for Health Initiative is funded by the Orange County Healthcare Agency under the Equity in OC initiative. Our collaborative effort focuses on the Capistrano Villas neighborhood in San Juan Capistrano, where more than half of residents are still spending over 50% of their household income on housing.

Beginning in 2024, our goal is to reduce the number of families paying more than 50% of their household income on rent. We will work closely with housing experts and residents to develop long-term strategies to create access to safe, financially accessible housing.
